Health Insurance in the Dominican Republic

At SuncampDR, we have a group economical heath insurance for long term renters, the cost is 16 dollars per month and it covers all emergencies and about 75 to 80% of other cases such as doctor specialist consultations, laboratories exams and treatments. Your health can only improve while you are vacationing with us here however; for any urgency, the medical services are really quick and efficient!

Tthe public hospitals are free but you need to pay for medication, bring your own sheets, fans, food and you pay for all the details. We have used this service in the past and we can say it is a good service and economical (not as good and as clean as the private clinics).

If you have your own travelling insurance, you just need to fill up the paper work at the private clinic where you will be attended...VIP! They look right away for the best specialists for foreighners.

You can get an appointment with specialists in all fields.  The health insurance will not cover passed diseases. If you need serious surgery then you can choose to go back to your home country. Dermatologist here are really inexpensive compare to your country and also dental work is less expensive, even if the health insurance does not cover it.
