SunCampDR is located in Munoz village, Puerto Plata, North Coast of the Dominican Republic. More precisely, Munoz is found directly across the Tourist Complex of Playa Dorada and beautiful beaches. There are two entrances to Munoz Village from the main highway (carretera Gregorio Luperon). There is the entrance #6 (kilometro seis) , and the entrance #7 (kilometro siete).

They correspond to six and seven kilometers away from the Center of Puerto Plata. SunCampDR is only 2.5km off  the main road. Half of the way is dirt road. Our local address is: calle principal #40.

At the very end of the village, you have to keep going, go downhill and you will see SunCampDR on your left hand side. People know Diana, so if you need to ask for direction, just mention my name! We are at the very end by the river and this is a dead end, no more road go further as no road crosses the river and only a few local, countryside people live on the mountain passed the wide Munoz River…

In Munoz village, Dominicans live alongside a Haitian settlement. Spanish and Creole are languages commonly heard on the streets. There are 5 schools in total with many different churches. There are local markets, restaurants, bars, two soccer/football/baseball fields, and a community center runned by SunCampDR’s foundation. It is a lively and friendly community where you will feel welcome from the start. There are a few industries: asphalt and cement fabrics and also many touristic industries like four wheelers, safaris companies and horseback riding ranches.

The beach is easily accessible from SunCampDR by 30-minute walk or 10-minute ride in local public transportation. There are restaurants, bars, and resorts along the beach. You can access the beach from inside the tourist complex of Playa Dorada. Most of our guests choose Pueblito public beach where kite surfing is getting popular. Pueblito Beach is just 2 minutes away from Playa Dorada entrance.  At pueblito beach, the orange market offers all crafts and local jewelry and products for the best prices. The restaurant Hispaniola offers a good menu for our guests.

For the ones who prefer a quieter beach, you keep going for another 5 minutes by public transportation and you get of at La Rotonda which is at the baseball stadium and go to Long Beach. The water is shallow, warmer and hardly any waves at Long Beach which is at the very start of the stretch along the beach. You can reach Playa Dorada walking along the ocean.

From SunCampDR, getting around the area is easy and economical. Public transportation to the beach or the city costs less than US$1.00 and they leave every four minutes. They are called Ruta Munoz, they are regular cars with a sign on the top.

Downtown Puerto Plata has many of the amenities including three different big grocery stores with various imported food and other goods. A beautiful Malecon (main street along the ocean), central park, amber museum, old fort San Felipe, Brugal rhum factory and much more….at only 20 minutes drive from SunCampDR!

Puerto Plata is a popular tourist destination in the Caribbean. Puerto Plata became famous with vacationers from all over the world, for its white sand beaches and crystal blue water and also for the friendliness of Dominicans.
