10 reasons to rent at SunCampDR
1. Experience real Dominican Republic –
A vacation in a resort may provide some form of luxury and comfort, but very rarely will you ever glimpse the real people or culture of the country you are in. Having a volunteering vacation is something entirely different however. You are no longer treated simply as a tourist. You are living, working and loving the real people, food, music and culture directly. There is no veil between you and the real Dominican Republic. What’s more you can still do all of the activities you do at an all inclusive, but quite often for cheaper and more likely, giving your money directly to local people rather than large hotel chains. A volunteer vacation is still a vacation remember and you are free to do all of the activities you would otherwise do on another holiday.
2. stay in local beautiful rustic apartments –
Whatever your budget, there is the perfect place for you at SuncampDR. All apartments are set in a rural jungle of avocado, mango and lemon trees. Set right by a clean warm river, perfect for a morning swim, or a quick dip after a long hot day. The apartments themselves range from large open plan top floor jungle penthouses to affordable, comfortable and private rooms with shared amenities. This is living life Dominican style.
3. Stay in safe, tranquil setting
“Before we came to Dominican Republic, we were a bit worried about safety and the security of our stuff. But from the moment we arrived off the plane to a complimentary shot of rum, and our friendly taxi driver drove us to our new home, we knew right away we were safe and we were part of a community.” –

SuncampDR Travel Vacation Apartment Rentals is by far the one of the safest havens in the whole Dominican Republic. Working with the local community for 17 years has gained not only the trust and love but also the security of the local people. As a renter in Suncamp, the local people entitle you to the same love and respect those at SuncampDR have worked towards for 17 years. No-one has been robbed or violated in the entire 17 years at SuncampDR.
Moreover, SuncampDR provides you with your little private haven, away from the hustle and bustle of the city and beaches. You are free to chill by the river, sit in your hammock in your apartment (you can request an apartment with one), or stare at the stars from on top of the world outside the eco-house.
4. Fund local people -
SunCampDr will help you organise your vacation around any and all activities you wish to partake in. However unlike resorts, SunCampDR does not take any of your money for this. All the money you spend goes to local taxi drivers, friendly locals on the beach and the community at large. Even the money you pay within the SunCamp complex, for your rent and food etc. employs local people and families. Moreover it helps fund the volunteer project at Munoz village – www.suncampdr.org
5. Easy living is cheap –
Living in a local community like Sun CampDR has great financial benefits too. As a member of the community you pay community prices, not tourist prices. Taxis here cost on average, 30 pesos/50p/80cents. A full dinner time meal can be bought from a café or restaurant for on average 200 pesos/£3/$5. A large beer cost around a 50 pesos/80p/$1! With day to day life this cheap, that resort holiday for one week can pay for a month of a volunteer vacation living in the community.
6. Be part of a SunCampDR social network.
Whatever time of year you come to SunCamp, there are always bound to be other like-minded adventurous holiday makers here too. Whether it be having a sunset barbeque, a fire on top of the hill or a relaxing dip in the river together, there will be plenty of opportunity to meet and get on with others. Many people come in one’s or two’s, but leave with a whole new family of friends for life.
7. Book activities cheap
At SunCampDR you are a member of the community and therefore not seen as the ‘rich tourist’ type. Activities are therefore far cheaper than at the resorts as you get them at local prices. A horseback ride along the beach or up the mountain, which costs $60 on average at resorts, costs $20 at SunCampDR. A full day at the 27 waterfalls, with your own taxi driver all day and a slap up feast at a local fish restaurant costs around 1200 pesos/£20/$27. Everything can be advised or organised for you here. If you are looking for the adventure holiday of your life for an affordable price, SunCampDr is for you.
8. Become a member of the Dominican Republic community
A vacation in a resort may provide some form of luxury and comfort, but very rarely will you ever glimpse the real people or culture of the country you are in. Having a SunCampDr vacation is something entirely different however. You are no longer treated simply as a tourist. You are living, breathing and loving the real people, food, music and culture directly. There is no veil between you and the real Dominican Republic. What’s more you can still do all of the activities you do at an all inclusive, but quite often for cheaper and more likely, giving your money directly to local people rather than large hotel chains.
9. Central location
From SuncampDr you are a 5 minute taxi ride away from the beach costing 25 pesos/35p/50cents. You are only 8 minutes away from the city centre and large shopping centre where again you can take a public taxi, or pay a bit more to have your taxi driver wait for your shopping and take you back to your door (for an extra 200 pesos round trip, it is advised if you have a large shop, or if you are buying dairy products which perish fast in the heat). From SunCampDR there are many beautiful walks, horse rides, and swims to be had all within walking distance.
10. Immerse yourself in local culture
Why not come to the local disco listen to local Meringue every Friday or Saturday? Or why not sample some of the finest local Dominican fried chicked only 5 minutes walk from home? Or why not try a full Dominican slap up meal for 200 pesos from the SunCampDR café? Why not volunteer some time in Munoz, meet the local people, see how they live and work and do some activities with the kids at the community centre? If you want to touch up on your Spanish then why not take a local intensive course, or why not just practice with the very patient appreciative locals? There are plenty of museums to be explored in your own time in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic Travel Vacation Apartment Rentals. Whatever area or culture you wish
